Job Overview
The Department of Tourism is offering an Entry-Level Administrative Officer (Clerk) position to unemployed South Africans looking to gain experience in the public service. This role involves general administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, record-keeping, and office support, providing valuable exposure to government operations and essential workplace skills.

About You:
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Requirements: Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
Skills and Competencies:
- Computer literacy (MS Office), Good Verbal and Written Communication, Flexibility and teamwork, Customer focus, Ability to work under pressure. Possession of PERSAL certificate/s will be an added advantage. Experiential learning in the HR field will be an added advantage.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of relevant Acts, policies, and prescripts, Knowledge of relevant HR practices in the Public Service, PERSAL knowledge.
Duties:
- The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the effective recruitment, selection, and appointment process, sorting, recording, and numbering applications. Planning and organizing logistics for various meetings. Attending and recording meeting minutes, preparing various applications, facilitating and coordinating personnel suitability checks. Drafting offer and rejection letters. Executing PERSAL transactions related to recruitment and service allowances. Supporting the administration of conditions of service and allowances. Receiving incoming leave application forms, checking information on the leave forms and accompanying attachments. Recording leave forms in PERSAL, printing leave applications in PERSAL and the EDMS. Sending notifications to the finance department for payment upon approval of leave allowances. Responding to inquiries regarding leave matters, acknowledging receipt of various documents, sending relevant HR forms to applicants for completion. Recording beneficiary nominations, completing and attaching relevant documents for pension withdrawals. Opening employee benefit files and ensuring that documents comply with established standards in accordance with the checklist. Auditing benefit files and providing overall administrative support to the unit.
