Position Purpose
As a Trainee Train Assistant, you will undergo both theoretical and practical training to become a certified Train Assistant. The training includes the completion of various modules and hands-on experience to ensure you can operate in an operational environment safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently accomplish work assignments in line with the training program and company objectives.
- Maintain a comprehensive portfolio of training experience for progression.
- Perform trainee Train Assistant duties as outlined by Transnet Freight Rail (TFR).
- Attend and successfully complete the theoretical training program within the set time frame.
- Develop competency to perform in an operational environment and operate assigned equipment.
About You:
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Grade 12 certificate with Pure Mathematics and/or Physical Science.
- Willingness to undergo both theoretical and practical training to become certified as a Train Assistant.
- Undergo medical surveillance and safety behavioral risk assessments during the selection process and annually.
- Minimum age requirement: 21 years.
- Minimum height: 1.6 meters.
- Ability to carry heavy objects.
- Physical, hearing, vision, mental fitness (assessed through medical tests).
- Psychomotor ability (assessed via the Vienna Testing System).
